Here is a simple troubleshooting technique for the do-it-yourselfer when it comes to diagnosing Moen pressure balanced cartridges. I have seen this a few times. You go to turn on the tub/shower valve and you only have hot or cold water at the valve. What has happened is thee balancing spool inside the cartridge has frozen up. Replacement of the cartridge will remedy this problem.
